Ruth Geraldine Hunter

Malden

Ruth Geraldine Hunter, affectionately known as Gerry, was a beacon of compassion, courage, and unwavering support. Born on January 7, 1931, in Everett, Massachusetts, Ruth lived a spirited and fulfilling life before her departure on September 23, 2025. A woman of many talents, she was well recognized for her role as a home health aide in the medical field. Ruth's warmth and genuine care for others was a testament to her character.

Ruth was a vibrant soul, a lover of life's simple pleasures. Whether it was shopping or watching her favorite cooking shows, she found joy in every moment. Her culinary skills were a source of delight for those lucky enough to taste her cooking. In her younger years, Ruth was also a gardener, nurturing plants with as much love as she did her family and friends. Ruth later settled in Malden, where she raised her family with love and care.

Ruth was a pillar of strength for her family, her faith in God a guiding light. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the heart of her world, their happiness her greatest reward. Affectionately known as Nana to many, she held a special place in the hearts of not only her grandchildren but also many others who loved her like family.

Ruth was the beloved wife of the late Robert Hunter and the devoted mother of the late Brenda Rawles, Elizabeth Heart and her husband David, Jefferey Hunter, and Tracey Andrews and her husband Anthony. She was the cherished grandmother of Eric Rawles, Troy Rawles, Randee Olmeda, Rico Olmeda, Jazmynn Hunter, Lateasha Chapman, and the late Tremani Hunter. She is also survived by many loving great-grandchildren who will carry forward her memory with love.

She was predeceased by her parents, James and Pearl Sneed, as well as all of her siblings: Thomas Sneed, Leroy Sneed, James Sneed Jr., and Walter Sneed.

Ruth's legacy of courage, compassion, and unwavering support will continue to live on through her family and all who knew her.
