Raymond proudly served his country in the United States Army. Upon return from service, Ray attended Brown University where he graduated summa cum laude with a BS in Chemistry. He went on to obtain a PhD in Chemistry with a minor in Physics, from California Institute of Technology.
In March 1959, Raymond joined AVCO Research Laboratory in Everett, MA. After leaving AVCO, he co-founded Physical Sciences, Inc. Early in 1980 he formed Research and Laser Technology, which was eventually acquired by CVD Inc. In March 1986 CVD, Inc. was acquired by Morton International. He was also on the board of Cambridge Isotope Laboratories.
Raymond published over one hundred scientific papers in various scientific journals. Raymond enjoyed boating, fishing and cross-country skiing.
A memorial Visitation will be held at the Paul Buonfiglio & Sons Funeral Home, 128 Revere Street, Revere on Monday, March 13, 2023 from 10:00 to 11:30am followed by a 12pm Mass at St. Anthony's Church in Revere. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Private interment.
