Patricia (Mondello) Manzo
Patricia Manzo, of Revere, formerly of East Boston and Winthrop, passed away peacefully on June 24, 2026, at the age of 92, surrounded by the family she loved so deeply. She was born in Boston on June 8, 1934, to the late Frank Mondello Sr. and Ethel (Kealos) Mondello, and was the beloved wife of the late Ralph “Sunny” Manzo.
To know Patricia was to know strength, resilience, generosity, and unconditional love.
In her yearbook she said she was most excited “to get married”. She devoted her life to her family, creating a home where everyone was welcome. That love extended out to her vast connection of friends she made along the way.
Patricia possessed an extraordinary gift for sewing and design. Her talent carried her far beyond Winthrop, as she worked as a costume designer and seamstress for showgirls in Las Vegas and throughout the country. Her craftsmanship was so exceptional that some of her creations were featured in the motion picture Striptease. She took immense pride in her work, and those who knew her admired both her creativity and her remarkable attention to detail.
When life presented new challenges, Patricia met them with determination. After her husband became ill in the 1980s, she enrolled in computer classes at Harvard, embracing new technology with the same curiosity and courage that defined every chapter of her life. She never stopped learning and never stopped adapting.
Patricia found joy in the simple pleasures that made life beautiful. She loved dancing, shopping, and spending time with friends. She was an active member of the Revere Elder Affairs Council and could often be found riding her scooter along Revere Beach with her dear friend Betty, greeting familiar faces wherever she went. Her warmth, quick wit, and vibrant spirit left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Above all else, Patricia’s greatest pride was her family. She was the devoted mother of Lisa Manzo-Poh of Tewksbury and the late Carol Anne Manzo-Polosi. She was the cherished grandmother of Joelle Cohen of Florida, Christopher Poh and his wife, Taye, of Bridgewater, and Carly Houldridge and her husband, Michael, of Lincoln, England. She was the adored great-grandmother of Jaiye, Iyanu, and Ará, each of whom brought her immeasurable joy.
She was predeceased by her beloved siblings, Frank “Buster” Mondello, Dorothy Caughlin, Frank “Frankie” Mondello, and Lillian Hanley. She also leaves behind many loving nieces, nephews, extended family members, dear friends, and her beloved cat, Sophie.
Patricia was surrounded by the love of her family as she took her final breath, including her former son-in-law, Jerel Poh of Bridgewater, who remained a devoted presence and stood by her side during her final moments. She was never alone during her final days, and her family finds great comfort in knowing she was wrapped in love until the very end.
In keeping with Patricia’s wishes, she has chosen to have no services. A private celebration of life will be planned in the weeks to come.
Those wishing to honor Patricia’s memory are invited to make a donation to Survivors by the Sea, a cancer support group offering compassion and connection to those navigating the difficult path of diagnosis, treatment, and survivorship.
Although she is deeply missed, Patricia’s spirit, love, laughter, and unwavering devotion to her family and friends will continue to live on in all who were blessed to know her.
