Cornish, Michael L. of Chelsea passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on January 28, 2026, at the age of 73. Beloved husband of 2 months (together of 46 years) to Kenneth Cinelli. Michael was a beacon of light, a source of constant inspiration, and a man with a heart full of love and courage.
Michael was a man of great spirit and humor. He had a knack for making those around him laugh with his quick wit and funny anecdotes. As a committed and inspiring leader, he served as the Squire of the Sons of Italy in Revere and was a dedicated Cub Scout Leader from 1969-1981. Honoring his commitment to service, he received the District Award of Merit, a testimony to his indomitable courage and selfless dedication. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. Michael also made a significant contribution to the Health Insurance industry, where he worked as a Customer Service Representative before his retirement and was a part of the Department of Public Health State Advisory Board.
Michael's inspiring journey also includes his 20-yearlong sobriety. His courage led him to become an icon in the NA community, where he ended every meeting with the powerful words, "Have some fun in Recovery". He lived by the quote, "Courage is not having the strength to go on; it's going on when you don't have the strength." His life was a testament to this truth. Michael's love story with his husband, Kenneth Cinelli, was one for the ages. After 46 years together, they finally tied the knot on November 24, 2025, a moment that was undoubtedly special and profoundly cherished.
A dear brother of Daniel Cornish and his wife Pam of FL, Kevin Cornish and his wife Jenny of FL, and Brian Cornish and his wife Sheila of Avon. Also survived by his loving dog Pasqualina “Lena”, nieces, nephews, countless friends, and the fellowship of the NA. His beautiful spirit will forever remain in our hearts. Let's remember Michael not with sorrow, but with gratitude for his incredible life, his infectious laughter, and his unwavering courage.
