Lawrence A. Carifio

May 18, 1943 — April 16, 2026

Chelsea

We honor the life of Lawrence A. Carifio, born on May 18, 1943, in the city of Boston, Massachusetts, who sadly left us on April 16, 2026. He was a man of style, courage, and love, known for his sharp dressing and captivating personality. Lawrence served his country honorably during the Korean war era, a testament to his bravery and spirit of service. His professional life was equally outstanding as an accomplished insurance agent in real estate. His work ethic, integrity, and commitment were an inspiration to many.

A loving father to Nicholas Carifio and a doting grandfather, Lawrence's love for his family was paramount. He was the son of the late Jerry and Ida (Lishinski) Carifio. His joy in life was traveling and spending quality time with family and friends. Known for his adventurous streak, Lawrence enjoyed the thrill of chance at the gambling table.

A grave side service will take place on Friday, 4/24 at Bourne National Cemetery. Please meet at the gates of the cemetery. (Connery Avenue, Bourne, MA 02532) no later than 12:15 PM.

My longtime friend Larry Carifio led an extraordinary life—from humble roots in the North End to a lifetime in Revere, Mass.

We met in the early 1990s when we were both up against it, and we persevered and overcame—as men do.

Some of life’s hurdles get in the way (as they sometimes do), and sometimes, if you don’t laugh, you’ll cry—so laugh we did. Lots of laughs, and of course mishaps… chess and pinochle ♠️♥️♣️♦️

Yes, I remember Larry teaching me, and his cards went flying up in the air out of frustration—lolololol. Too many stories to tell… another time, maybe ⏳️

He was a father & grandfather, a father figure, a friend, and known as “Uncle Larry” in various circles. A Korean War Veteran 🫡, where he served as a codebreaker and was also a sharpshooter.

Upon returning home, he became an elite insurance agent and eventually earned his broker’s license.

He enjoyed the finer things in life when they could be obtained. It seemed he was always in a class of his own—a street-smart man, solid & “stand-up.” He looked out for many people, including myself, for the duration of his life.

He dressed the part—make no mistake. He loved & indulged in an uplifting smoke; it brought him joy and nostalgia. He adored German Shepherds, cars, the women, friends, and family in his life, along with his impeccable clothing. He always tried to carry himself correct—sharp.

(Mind over matter) … sometimes we strive too often for perfection. In the end, we are ALL perfectly imperfect ✝️

I will miss our many conversations & meals together. Larry traveled the world 🌎 and was an avid—no, wait—professional gambler. Just ask him, he’ll tell you: “Play long & play wrong,” he would say.

“Hit & Run 22 Black ‘147’Yo eleven, hard 6” 🎲🎲

I will miss my friend very much. No one told stories quite like Larry did—“nonstop.” I think I heard them ALL twice, and they will stay with me forever.

I will keep your memory alive and toast you often. No more pain.

With love & respect always, pal ♥️Hope to see you on the other side when God decides to punch my ticket.
