It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Joseph Anthony Capobianco, more affectionately known as Joe Cap, on January 30, 2026. Born on February 17, 1960, in Revere, Massachusetts, Joseph was a pillar of strength and service to his community and an inspiration to all who knew him.
Joseph dedicated his life to the service of others, both professionally and personally. He was a retiree of the Boston Fire Department, where his bravery, commitment, and selflessness were evident in every action he undertook. After the attacks on 9/11, he assisted with the recovery efforts at Ground Zero, and later responded during the Boston Marathon Bombing, both of which were a testament to his courage. His multiple commendations from the Boston Fire Department, his service as a Northeast CMED Operator, and his involvement in the Drum Corps in Bayonne, New Jersey, are further evidence of his dedication. Outside of his professional life, Joseph was an avid NASCAR fan and a passionate supporter of all Boston sports teams. He brought joy and enthusiasm to those around him.
Joseph was the beloved son of the late Anthony and Denise Capobianco. He leaves behind his son, Joseph Jr., and his cherished niece and nephews, Lexi Silverio of North Carolina, Niko Silverio of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and Ethan Park of Orlando, Florida. His absence will be profoundly felt, but his memory will live on forever in the hearts of all who knew him.
A visitation for Joseph will be held on Monday, February 2, 2026, from 4:00–8:00 PM at Buonfiglio Funeral Home, 128 Revere Street, Revere, MA. A funeral service will be held the following day at the funeral home at 10:00 AM, with a prayer service at 11:00 AM. Burial will be in the firefighters’ section of Forest Hills Cemetery, 95 Forest Hills Avenue, Boston, MA.
Friends and family are encouraged to keep Joseph’s memory alive by sharing their favorite stories, photos, and memories on his memorial page. Your contributions will serve as a comforting reminder of the wonderful man he was and the significant impact he had on all of our lives.
