Ida Nigro Bertuol

Feb 24, 1935 — Sep 13, 2026

Revere

Ida Nigro Bertuol, following a life that was as rich and robust as the wine she savored during her meals, has left us to embark on her next journey. Born in Isenia, Italy, she was the beloved daughter of Gaetano and Maddalena (Riozzi) Castiello. At 19, she courageously ventured to the United States, which became her home for the next 71 years. Ida was a woman of simple pleasures, her heart was as warm as the special coffees with Sambuca she enjoyed. Her generosity was as boundless as her love for people, her home was always open to anyone who wished to share a meal, a story, or a moment.

At 18, Ida married Euprimo Nigro and had 2 children, Robert Nigro, and Isabella Poulin, both of whom married (Mandana and Normand) and blessed her with three grandchildren (Jennifer Poulin, Steven Poulin, and Nima Nigro) and three great-grandchildren (Vannessa and Benjamin Forget, and Olivia Poulin) and grandchildren in-laws (Francis and Theresa). After her 1st husband's death, she married Claudio Bertuol who she spent 25 great years of her life. Sadly the love of her life passed away. She was devastated but courageously went on with her life. Her siblings, Antonia Mandoline, Gino Castiello and wife Maria, and Anna Zaccheo and husband John, survive her. Ida was predeceased by her siblings Guiseppina Bevione, Guiseppe Castiello, Guido Castiello, Giovanni Castiello, and Robert Castiello.

A visitation for Ida will be held on Saturday, September 19, 2026 from 9:30 - 11:30AM at Buonfiglio Funeral Home 128 Revere Street, Revere, Massachusetts 02151. Following the visitation, a funeral mass will be held at Saint Anthony's Church, 250 Revere Street, Revere, Massachusetts 02151. Burial will be held immediately after at Holy Cross Cemetery, 175 Broadway, Malden, Massachusetts.

Ida's legacy of generosity, love, and warmth lives on in those she touched. Her life was a testament to the simple truth that kindness and a good meal can bring people closer together. We encourage everyone to share their memories of Ida and upload photos to her memorial page, as we celebrate the life of this extraordinary woman. Let her spirit live on in our shared stories, memories, and the love we carry for her.
