Edward Costello, affectionately known to many as “Eddie” of Revere formerly of East Boston passed away on June 12, 2026, surrounded by his loving family at the age of 82. Born in Chelsea to the late Edward F. Costello and Michelina O. (Fiore). Beloved husband of 65 years to Irene (Johnson). Together since they were 12 & 13 years old, Irene was the love of Eddie’s life.
Eddie lived a life full of laughter, love, and talent. A true son of Massachusetts, his life journey took him from East Boston to Revere, where he made his home and left an indelible mark on the hearts of many.
Eddie was a man of many talents and interests, but his love for family stood above all else. Eddie was not just a printing press operator; he was the voice of the Wonderland and Seabrook NH dog tracks, narrating thrilling races that captured the hearts of many. His love for Boston sports was infectious, especially for his beloved Bruins (having season tickets for many years). He was the life of the party on the Blue and Orange lines of the MBTA, giving history lessons and making commutes a little brighter with his humor and wit. Eddie also had a soft spot for movies, particularly sci-fi shows, and his melodious voice often filled the room as he sang his favorite tunes. His quirks and talents made him not just Eddie, but Eddie “Halftime” Costello, when calling his favorite sports radio shows.
He was loving, his heart was a wellspring of affection for his family and friends. And he was talented, his voice and charm making him a unique and cherished figure to all who knew him.
Eddie was a loving husband to his wife Irene. Devoted father to Denise Woodside and her husband Eddie of Saugus, Robert Costello and his wife Lucy of Wakefield, Christine Cambria and her husband Paul of Peabody, and Kelly Walker and her husband John of Saugus. Cherished Papa to Michael Woodside, Lauren Doucette and her husband Paul, Nicole Cambria and her fiancé Matt Stein, Rachel Cambria, Julie Costello and Jenna Costello, Anthony Walker, Joey Walker and Johnny Walker. Adored great Papa to Rosie Doucette. Also survived by loving brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces & nephews, and cousins.
