Charlie "Pops" Blake

December 25, 1935 — October 27, 2025

Chelsea

Charlie Blake Jr “Pops” passed away on October 26, 2025, at the age of 89. Born in Waverly Hall, GA to the late Charles Blake Sr and Nellie Blake. Adored husband to his lovely wife Martha Blake. Charlie was a man of many facets, a unique blend of James Brown's rhythm and John Wayne's grit. His hearty laughter and witty one-liners often filled rooms, leaving a lasting impression on everyone he encountered.

Charlie spent the majority of his professional life in the automotive industry, specializing in tire maintenance. He took immense pride in his work, often saying, "The journey of life is like a car ride, it goes smoothly when the tires are well maintained." His work ethic was only rivaled by his love for westerns, dancing, and baseball. A true fan of the Red Sox, he could often be found donning their cap and cheering them on, regardless of whether they won or lost. Charlie was an embodiment of the quote, "Life may not be the party we hoped for, but while we are here, we should dance." And dance, he did. His moves, often inspired by James Brown, were a sight to behold, a true celebration of life itself.

He was a devoted father of Sarah Blake and her late husband Adalberto of Boston, Nora Blake of Chelsea, Darlene Blake of Boston, Bennie Blake of Boston, and Eva Elizabeth Carabin Blake of Gloucester. Cherished grandfather of Shykeyla “Pumpkin” Blake, Zahiel “Partner” Blake and many other loving grandchildren and great grandchildren. Dear brother of Lula Mae Hollis and her late husband Clyde, and the late Robert and Johny F. Blake. Alsos survived by his nephew Malcolm Hollis and many loving nieces and nephews. Charlie's legacy lives on through his family, friends, and the countless lives he touched with his loving and funny nature. As we remember Charlie, we find solace in Nora's words, "Pops was not just my father, he was my best friend, my rock. He taught me the value of laughter, the joy of dance, and the importance of living life to the fullest."
