In Loving Memory of Anne Marie MacFarlane
With hearts full of love, we bid farewell to Anne Marie MacFarlane, who entered into eternal rest on April 27, 2025, at the age of 89. Born Anne Marie Flood on July 27, 1935, in Boston, MA, Anne brought warmth, wit, and wisdom to all who knew her. Her intelligence and humor could brighten even the grayest of days. She will always be remembered for her compassion for others even in the face of her own personal tragedy with the loss of her daughter, Marianne, on September 11, 2001.
Anne’s life was marked by kindness, curiosity, and a genuine dedication to others. As a flight attendant for Northeast Airlines, she had a natural gift for making people feel seen and valued. She later brought that same spirit to her role in customer service at Massport, where she continued to connect with people in meaningful ways.
Anne enjoyed serving as Joe's copilot in the MacFarlane shuttle service for Declan and Emmett with her Dunkin Donuts coffee in hand and always appreciated spending time with her boys. She enjoyed her calls with George and his family in Florida, and loved hearing the latest about Brianna's adventures. Phone calls with Fran and Eva were always welcome, and trips to Saugus to be with them and their family were highlights for Anne. A proud Bostonian with a sharp sense of humor, Anne was an avid consumer of Fox News and was fond of debating the issues of the day. She loved her Revere roots, but also loved meeting new people and going new places. She settled in her later years in Weymouth where she had a strong support network with the O'Driscoll family, her devoted caretakers and dedicated medical providers, and where she truly enjoyed spending time with the O'Driscoll cousins and she created the most delightful bond with her little friends in the neighborhood.
Above all, Anne was a traveler at heart. She enjoyed exploring new places, and Disney World held a special place in her heart. But even more than travel, Anne cherished her family. Her love for them was unwavering and remained the center of her life.
She is survived by her loving family—her son, Joseph MacFarlane of Weymouth, and his wife, Anne, and their sons, Declan and Emmett, her son, George MacFarlane of Florida, and his wife, Jackie, and their daughter, Brianna, her brother, Francis Flood, and his wife, Eva, and their daughters, Janette Ferrara and Jennifer Bremberg and their families, her sister-in-law, Barbara Flood, and her children, Edward Flood and Kathleen Flood.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband George MacFarlane Sr., her parents, Edward James and Marie (Dunlee) Flood, her brother, Jack Flood, and her daughter, Marianne, who she always held close to her heart.
As we remember Anne, we celebrate a life filled with laughter, compassion, and adventure. We invite you to share your memories and photos on her memorial page, so her spirit may continue to inspire and bring joy to those who knew and loved her.
