Salvatore Messina

February 15, 1935 — February 7, 2024

Revere

Salvatore "Salvie" Messina, born on the 15th of February, 1935, in Sicily, was a resilient soul who brought sunshine into the lives of those around him. His love for life was contagious and his humor, unparalleled. He was a man who truly encapsulated the spirit of Charles R. Swindoll's words, "Life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you react to it." He reacted to life with humor, courage, and an unyielding love for all, a testament to his enduring spirit.

Salvie was a man of many talents. He served in the Italian Army, specifically in the Artillery Division, and later worked as an Electronic Assembler in a tech company. His hobbies were as diverse as his talents - from gardening to playing cards, working on cars to walking the mall, visiting the Saugus Senior Center to traveling back to his beloved Italy. He was a master storyteller, a jester who loved making jokes, and a Bocce champion. Salvi was also a dedicated member of the VFW Organization and the Mall Food Court Club. Despite his many accomplishments, what mattered most to Salvatore was his family, loved ones, and friends, along with his cherished garden. As Ralph Waldo Emerson once said, "The purpose of life...is to be useful, to be honorable, to be compassionate, to have it make some difference that you have lived and lived well," and Salvi lived well indeed.

Known as the sweetest man that ever lived, Salvatore leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter. He is survived by his partner, Margaret Rota; his daughters, Josephine Feola and Maria LoGrasso; his son-in-law, Salvatore LoGrasso; and his grandchildren, Bianca Feola, Mark Feola, Alyssa Power, Marco LoGrasso, and Matthew LoGrasso. He was preceded in death by his parents, Salvatore and Josephine Messina; his wife, Delfina Messina; and his siblings, Domenica Amico, Grace Ruggiero, Joseph Messina, and Lilla Inglese.

His absence will be felt every day, but the memories he made with us will keep him alive in our hearts. We encourage you to leave your own memories of Salvatore and upload photos to the memorial page, where we can all remember and celebrate the life of this remarkable man.
