Rhodes, Kevin Patrick, born May 25, 1965 in Pittsburgh, PA, passed away peacefully at Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers, MA on February 13, 2024. Kevin took great pride in his Pennsylvania roots--raised in Elizabeth Twp with family ties also in and around Brookville. He was the beloved son of the late Daniel D. Rhodes, Sr. and Joanne (Blosl) Rhodes and proud brother to Cherie Williams Coleman, Daniel D. Rhodes, Jr. (w. Ruth Smith Rhodes) and Donald E. Rhodes (w. Robin Leone and the late Renee Johns). Kevin boasted often of his dear nieces and nephews including: Amanda Williams-Behr, Amber Williams; Christina Booher, Rachel Bodner, and Jennifer Rhodes; Hannah Rhodes and Angelena Demers. Kevin was the proud great-uncle to Lyla and Billy Booher, Julianna and Nathan Bodner, and Khylen Behr.

In his formative years growing up in Pennsylvania, Kevin was active with his Dad and brothers with fishing, hunting, flea-marketing, and Boy Scouts. He was an Assistant Scout Master, Camp Commissioner and proudly earned the rank of Eagle Scout and received the Vigil Honor as a member of The Order of the Arrow along with his brothers. He graduated from Elizabeth-Forward in l983, attended Penn State (Special Education), and graduated from UMASS (Human Services Management) after relocating to Massachusetts in 1988.

Kevin spent the last 35 years of his life joyfully working in disability services--initially with Vinfen Corp in residential, day developmental, supported employment, and educational settings including as Clinical Coordinator / Director The Therapeutic Center /  Bennett School. Kevin spent the last 22 years  in the public sector as a Supervisor for the Massachusetts Department of Developmental Services--most of that time working on behalf of children and families. Kevin believed strongly in public service and in the mission to help create a more inclusive world that values people of all abilities. Kevin loved the work, his colleagues, community partners, and  families for their resilience, humanity, and grace. He considered his work in this field both a privilege and one of the great Blessings of his life-time.

Kevin will be remembered as a friend to many. He truly believed that we are connected to each other and tried to be a brother to all. Kevin is also survived by his life-long friend, family, loving companion, confidant and care-taker who often quoted: “We are all just here to walk each other home.”. Kevin reached there first but will shine a welcoming light for all that follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Kevin's memory to: St.Jude Children's Research Hospital. https://www.stjude.org/donate/donate

Final interment will be in Pittsburgh at a later time at the Queen of Heavens Cemetery.
